Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Tilawi, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Service Description
Tilawi is a free Qur’an app: the Mushaf with recitations, recognition of your recitation on the device for memorisation and search, a revision plan, prayer times and qibla, mosques and halal places with a map, and lectures. It needs no account. Most of it runs on your device; the features that use a service are described in the privacy policy.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use the app for any unlawful purpose; tamper with the app in ways that harm it or other people; redistribute the app or its assets in ways that violate applicable rights; use the content in ways that violate the sanctity of the Qur’an.
Halal places
Tilawi never says a place is halal. It shows places tagged halal in OpenStreetMap as "not yet reported", and what Tilawi users reported about a place: how many and when, warnings first. Chain supermarkets are not listed. A report is the word of the person who made it, never a certificate or a ruling; make sure yourself before you eat.
Rules for reports
Report only what you saw or heard yourself; you answer for what you report. No false or spiteful reports. Reports are shown as counts, without names. Tilawi may remove reports and block a phone that breaks these rules. You accept these rules in the app before your first report.
Remove your reports
All of Tilawi › Privacy › “Remove all my reports” deletes your reports and favourites on the server. Only the app can do this: the key that links them is known only to your phone.
Maps
On Android, Places' map is Google Maps; its use is subject to the Google Maps Terms of Service (maps.google.com/help/terms_maps/) and Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). On iPhone, the map is Apple Maps, whose legal notice is in the map.
Mosques and prayer times
The mosque list comes from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). A mosque's own times are read from the service it uses; your prayer times are calculated on your phone. Check with your mosque when it matters.
Support
Tips unlock nothing, and nothing that is free in Tilawi becomes paid. Monthly support gives early access to some new features before everyone gets them (in Tilawi 3.1 the prayer widgets, for everyone from 3.2). Purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their terms.
Donations
Donations on this website are entirely voluntary and do not unlock any features or content.
Intellectual Property
The Tilawi app's design and code (excluding the Qur’anic text) are protected by intellectual property rights, except the components released as open source. The Holy Qur’an is the word of Allah and is not subject to copyright; its text is reproduced verbatim from established published sources. Recitation audio comes from EveryAyah.com.
Open-Source Components
Tilawi's speech-recognition packages are published under the MIT license and its speech model under CC BY 4.0 (based on NVIDIA's Arabic FastConformer, CC BY 4.0). Your use of those components is governed by their licenses.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Tilawi is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. While we strive for accuracy in all Qur’anic content and AI features, please verify with qualified scholars for religious guidance.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tilawi shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of Tilawi after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
